What:    The 13th Annual Take Flight 5k and 1 Mile Race for Runway Park

When:   May 23, 2026 from                         7:30-10:00 am

6:00 a.m. – Staff, vendors, and food trucks arrive for setup
6:30 a.m. – Late registration and packet pickup begins
7:00 a.m. – Vendor setup complete / runway closures begin

7:30 a.m. – Civil Air Patrol Memorial Ceremony begins

(Post Colors, National Anthem, Missing Man Ceremony, Moment of Silence, TAPS, Special Forces Parachute jump team w/National Colors)

8:00 a.m. – 5K race start
9:00 a.m. – 1-mile race start
9:20 a.m. – Awards and closing ceremony
9:30 a.m. until complete – Post-race festivities continue, food trucks, and vendors will be on site.

Where: Runway Park (adjacent to the park and next to restaurant)

Who:     Open to the public for ticket purchase. Spectators are welcome to cheer their teams, friends, or family members running. No pets are allowed.

Why:     Currently 854 registered runners. There were 1091 runners last year. One runner is traveling from Wisconsin with the goal to run a 5k in all 50 states. The event raises money for Runway Park with 100% of the donations and net proceeds going back to the community. We are excited because past races have raised enough money to add more playground equipment. The Federal Aviation Administration has approved the addition. This is a rain or shine event unless lightning or safety issues prevent it.
