HBO Max teases Season 3 of ‘Euphoria’ with new trailer

Zendaya Coleman arrives for the ‘Euphoria’ FYC Party on April 20^ 2022 in Los Angeles^ CA LOS ANGELES - APR 20

HBO has dropped the first trailer for the long-awaited third season of “Euphoria,” returning after a four-year hiatus. Season 3 will premiere on Sunday, April 12.

The trailer teases the time jump following the events of Season 2, with Zendaya’s Rue shown to be in trouble as drug dealer Laurie (Martha Kelly) turns up saying that she owes her money. Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie appears to be working as an adult content creator, and she is shown getting married to Jacob Elordi’s Nate. The footage also features the return of Hunter Schafer’s Jules and Alexa Demie’s Maddy.

In October, series creator Sam Levinson shared a sneak peak with British press, explaining where some of the characters end up after a time jump. “Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college they’d be out of college at that time. We basically pick up Rue [Zendaya] south of the border in Mexico, in debt to Laurie [Martha Kelly], trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off.”

HBO Max had previously confirmed on Instagram that the series was finally returning in April; alongside the update, the streamer also shared a photo of Zendaya in character as Rue wearing her signature black hi-top Converse and sitting in an old pickup truck, with the caption: “Let’s ride.”

The show also teased the new season with the release of some first-look images, showcasing Rue Bennett (Zendaya) in what appears to be a pew in a church; as well as Cassie Howard (Sweeney) holding a melting ice cream cone; Nate Jacobs (Elordi) at work in the kitchen with some raw meat; and Lexi Howard (Maude Apatow), Maddy Perez (Demie) and Jules (Schafer) in front of a large painting.

In addition to the starring cast, Coleman Domingo returns to guest star, along with new series regulars Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry (both upped from recurring), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Toby Wallace. Alanna Ubach, Daeg Faerch, Dominic Fike, Melvin Bonez Estes, Nika King, Paula Marshall, Sophia Rose Wilson and Zak Steine also return; and Sharon Stone is set to make an appearance.

Additional newcomers to the show are Grammy-winning artist Rosalía, former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch and A Different World star Kadeem Hardison, as well as Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, and Sam Trammell.
