Jermaine Dupri has teamed up with Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment, as well as with Cole Brown and Jami Gertz (co-owner of the Atlanta Hawks), to produce a three-part documentary series, “Magic City: An American Fantasy.” Magic City is an iconic strip club in Atlanta, GA with a history spanning nearly four decades, and is well-known globally thanks in part to the hip-hop community.

In an exclusive report by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “Magic City: An American Fantasy” will tell the story of the Magic City strip club, which has been referenced several times in hip-hop music and pop culture. Consisting of three parts, the series will delve into the rich history of Magic City, offering insights into its origins and the club’s founder, Michael “Mr. Magic” Barney. Additionally, the series will shed light on the experiences of the women who have been part of the staff at this renowned adult entertainment venue. Dupri told AJC: “Magic City is a second home for me. It’s the one place where celebrities, hustlers, politicians, and Atlanta locals all come together. I’ve watched it evolve over the years from a local joint to an internationally recognized spot. It’s about time we tell this story the right way.”

Says series creator Cole Brown:“This is a unique story of Black entrepreneurship and empire-building in a city that is the beating heart of Black culture. I’m ecstatic to be working with a team that will give this story the authenticity and platform it deserves.”  Executive producer Jami Gertz shared: “The inner workings of Magic City and its prevalence in Hip-Hop are remarkably mysterious – it’s a wonder the story has yet to be told. Atlanta is my adopted home and a place I’m looking forward to celebrating through this story.”

Directed by Charles Todd, Magic City: An American Fantasy will also explore the relationship between Magic City and its prominent hip-hop stars like Jermaine Dupri, Future, and Migos. The series includes interviews with notable celebrities such as 2 Chainz, Nelly, Shaquille O’Neal, Quavo, Killer Mike, and Big Boi.

Magic City: An American Fantasy does not yet have a release date.
