April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month. During this month the Julie Valentine Center will increase efforts to raise awareness and education in the community and answer the question, “What can we do to protect ourselves, our children, our friends, our family members, our community from child abuse and sexual assault?” The JVC challenges everyone to do the following not only during the month of April, but throughout the entire year.
- Educate yourself about child abuse and sexual assault.
- Know the difference between facts and myths.
- Spread that knowledge with others.
- Believe survivors.
- When you see something, do something.
At your next virtual happy hour or parking lot party with friends, ask everyone to make a small donation (or just ask friends and loved ones to consider donating).
